Village Cottage Garden and Plant Design Northamptonshire

About This Project

The garden is situated in the heart of a quiet village with foot access from the adjacent lane.

The design brief was to create a cottage style garden with the maximum amount of planting area for the owners who are passionate about plants and especially ornamental grasses. There also needed to be good access to the front door and a small seating area.

The generous path leads to the cottage door and a small stone patio infront of the old shop door at the very top of the path. Planting either side of the path is designed to give structure through the winter with interest and colour through the spring, summer and autumn.

The continuation of a more narrow, circular path around the end of the garden allows the owner to stroll through the planting beds. The circular bed is dedicated to a mass of Stipa tenuissima with seasonal perennials coming through to add additional impact.
