The brief for the garden was to create a plant design for a very keen gardener. The garden had recently been designed and installed by Bosworth’s Landscaping. The client loved all plants and requested a mix of trees, shrubs and perennials. All year interest was very important and the view from the kitchen/breakfast room was to be enjoyed everyday. As the client has a beehive nectar rich plants were also included such as Salvias, Persicaria and Eryingium.
To provide interest through the winter grasses were incorporated into the design to give movement and structure. Climbers peaking in flower colour through the seasons were planted to clothe the pergola arches giving height, interest and fragrance.
Birch trees create shade and are underplanted with plants with contrasting foliage shape and texture to give interest when not in flower. Tall see through perennials were planted at the front of the border opposite the breakfast room creating a sense of depth and intrigue. To prolong the period of interest through the winter perennials with attractive seed heads were incorporated into the design.
